I studied at Colchester School of Art and qualified with a degree in Graphic Design at Leicester Polytechnic. After a career as a graphic designer in Manchester, Birmingham and Worcester, I felt the need to return to drawing, painting and printmaking. The images I develop come from my sketches and photos, and sometimes things only recorded in my mind’s eye. I find painting risky but satisfying – I’m never quite sure how I arrive at the final image. Printmaking is a more considered process that allows for multiple variations of the same design in different colours and tones. In both, there is a need to select the essential shapes and details that will create a strong image. And there’s never any guarantee that either process will end in success!
I am a member of St Peter’s Printmakers and Pershore Arts and regularly exhibit with both.
